An alleged Nigerian old woman was on Wednesday accused of selling human body parts as fried meat in a popular market in Accra, Ghana.
According to a local Ghanaian radio station, the woman raised suspicion by her bizarre movements at the Adabraka Market and observant dealers are said to have dragged her to the Adabraka Police Station.
Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, ASP Afia Tenge confirmed the arrest saying that the woman is half Nigerian and half Ghanaian.
The woman was identified as Florence Uju Appiah and is 60 years old.
The woman confessed to the crime saying she was instructed by her spiritual pastor to sell the meat to make a living.
The woman further claimed that she had come to sell her meat at Makola but passed by Adabraka market but she was new in the market. She however claimed that it was cow meat she had purchased from Makola to come and sell at Adabraka market.
The police were however unable to determine whether the meat was human meat or otherwise, so they forwarded it to the National Crime Investigation Department for forensic testing to show if it is human meat or not.
The police urged people to be calm until the forensic result have been acquired due to an angry mob that was passionate about lynching her before the arrival of the police who came to her rescue.
